If you are interested in joining a dynamic research group in synthetic organic chemistry, then there are two available PhD stipends in the Skrydstrup group. Our research is focused on the development of new synthetic methodology using transition metal catalysis. This includes methodology for accessing pharmaceutically relevant molecules, isotope labeling techniques, conversion of biopolymers and biomolecules, as well as identifying methods for exploitation of the greenhouse gas, carbon dioxide, in synthesis. Our chemistry has already been used by many of the major pharmaceutical companies, and one of our most proud examples includes our participation in providing AstraZeneca with an isotopically labeled version of an anti-cancer agent for phase 3 human clinical studies, a drug, which is now on the market for the treatment of ovarian cancer.
